John In the Morning on Pandora

On my lunch break I managed to create a radio station on Pandora based
on KEXP's "John in the Morning" playlist today Friday 12/19. We'll
see. Maybe I can create a KEXP "Expansions" station too. Let me know
if you would like me to share the station with you on Pandora. :)

Sunday night bedtime music

The radio program "Expansions" on KEXP is something like the longest running electronica radio show in the world.  They are going to do another annual MLK event next month, stay tuned.

I also heard a rumor that KEXP morning host John Richards lives in NYC part time and get this, is actually secretly broadcasting from NYC!  Kinda funny.  I know for a fact that when he's not visiting KNHC's broadcast shack on the top of Mt. Rainier, he's doing his thing while telecommuting from Uranus, kinda like my friend JF.

Knife

I decided to go under the knife after meeting with the surgeon yesterday.  She made it easier for me to decide.  The procedure takes about 45 minutes.  She'll go in and remove material from the herniation of the disc and then sew me up.  After an hour or so I should be able to walk home, or get a short car ride as we live next to the hospital.  I'll be out of work for a week recovering at home.  I'm going in on December 23rd so that I'll be recouping during the plant shut-down for the week and also my folks will be out here and they can wait on me hand & foot :)

How convenient the TV comes Tuesday and the PS3 came yesterday!  Anyone got PS3 games?

fade to black

Well, I figured out how to 'fade' level adjust each speaker via the remote without treeing through a menu.  Bueno.

Thanksgiving Revisted

I am thankful for so much.  It has been an amazing transition over the past 12 months from Barcelona to Seattle and friends and work.  Angie has a job she likes.  I'm glad I have health insurance with all my back problems.  I'm thankful I could spend this Tday with my sister Nanette and good friend Jesse and of course my best friend Angie.

Angie and I thought a lot about last year having a thanksgiving dinner party with schoolmates in Barcelona.  It was a first for many of them to sample such fine North American cuisine.  Here is a link to our post of the event.

3 Green Bean Casserole Weekend
3 green bean casseroles, one batch of Rice Krispie treats, pigs-in-a-blanket, a 4-kilo turkey, and a big ol' bowl of mashed potatoes makes for a good weekend.

Friday night we started with Gastrofest - an event sponsored by ESADE where students are encourage to team up and are given a small amount of money to make food representing their country.  We sampled Mexican, U.S. (mac & cheese, yum), Colombian, Tawainese, Chilean, Italian, and Canadian, to name a few.  Eric & I teamed up with a couple from school & hosted an American/Scottish/English table.  :)

Saturday night we finally celebrated Thanksgiving the way it's meant to be celebrated - with turkey, potatoes, green bean casserole, and lots of friends.  Good times.  Everyone seemed to like it and even humored me when we went around the room to say something we were thankful for.  Enjoy the pics.

Our very full oven at home with 2 green bean casseroles and a turkey:
gobble gobble

Nia poses like a kid:
tongues are fun

And this one just kept saying "CHEESE!!" for a good 5 minutes:
CHEESE

Good friends are fun
italians make good photographers

smiles are good for you

The wishbone duel between the Catalan & the Italian:
i'd bet on the catalan, but the italian won

happy us:
happy thanksgiving!

Done!

I am now done stimulating the economy.  I pass the plastic torch to the next discretionary spending consumer.  Please keep in mind that the country is depending on you to go big and do it now to keep us safe from the Great Depression II.  If we don't succeed as a great nation, then at least we can watch pirated movies and play games at our place, that is while we can afford the electricity. :)

The Samsung LN52A850 and Sony PS3 are on the way.  Holy fashizzlestix!
