I see blue skies

I had too much fun playing with our friend's children.  We made a game of bouncing on our bums on an exercise platform and hopping up and repeating in rotation.  I damaged my back again.  So simple so stupid.  I stayed home from work today.

Powerful Film

This movie captures a disturbing but critical part of American history and identity.  Gripping.

Yellow Dog Linux 6.1 on PS3

Well, I'm disappointed in YDL on PS3 because there is no Adobe Flash support (Linux + non x86 architecture).  I should have done my homework on that one, I just assumed installing YDL would give me a full functioning Firefox browser--the only other utility of interest to me is being able to rip blu-ray disks.  The following sites do not work on YDL.

So until these sites work, I won't be booting into YDL soon I suppose.

Yoga / PT

I did my physical therapy & stretching routine without modification and without pain today.  Happiness is needing a shower at half after 3 in the afternoon.

Incision

It has been 6 days since my surgery.  I put packing tape over the bandage this morning and took my second shower in so many days.  It felt great to say the least.  The good news is that when I removed the bandage the gauze was completely dry and clear!  It appears to be healing to schedule and now can be exposed to air all the time and I can shower without covering it.  The incision is about 2 inches long and the whole area is bruised and tender.  The pain around the slice is reducing daily and my sciatica is gone.  I'm feeling a little pain in the hip but it is different and I think will be addressed by my physical therapy and stretching, which I'm slow to get back into, I don't want to over stress the subcutaneous sutures.

Here is a self shot photo of my turtle shorts plus love handles, some moles and blemishes and of course my developing scar.

Computer Down

My desktop computer stopped booting up, ASUS P4PE motherboard.  Angie installed new memory and then it stopped working.  She put the old memory back in and nothing!  It turns on and then effectively hangs.  No output to the monitor.  Normally it would beep and then check various drives for boot media (which makes some noise), this does not happen.  We are lost.  Any ideas?  I'm trying to read some posts online for clues, but that's about it for ideas for me.  I asked Angie if she felt saw or heard any static electricity discharge while changing the memory, but she said no.

surgery update

the procedure went smooth and i was able to walk the 1 block home ( i
wanted to walk all 4 blocks but the nurse insisted on wheeling me
through all the sky bridges and various buildings). Angie was the
real champ, by my side through everything permitted. She made a
special trip back home to grab an ice gel-pack--I couldn't believe the
surgery center only had bulky ice cubes. best of all Angie had a hot
latte for me in the recovery room when i was brought back to her!
SWEET. No nausea post op. i insisted on leaving asap. they were
kind of amazed. i told Angie that us there reminded me the time we
climbed Rainier so quickly just the two of us--here is hoping...

thanks for all the well wishing, so appreciated!

Fasting

This morning I woke Angie up at 5:00 am and asked her to help me with
brecky. She obliged me with a fruit smoothie and scrambled eggs. I
made potent Kings Road Cafe coffee. At 5:30 I started my 8 hr fast.

It wasn't until last night tossing & turning did I come to find out
how anxious I am about this little operation. This morning just
before we got up, I put my arms around Angie and thought about how I
felt scared.

Anywho, everything is going to go smooth and I'm going be a lot better
afterward and start to look at picking up my active life again.

Weather is wrinkling my parents travel here and creating changes for
my sister too. It will all come together.

I still want more coffee.
